Ford and McDonalds to produce bio-plastics

Ford will recycle McDonalds' coffee waste material into energy efficient car parts including durable headlamps.

Chaff produced while roasting coffee beans will be converted to bioplastics. McDonald’s will send coffee chaff to Ford subcontractors for further processing.

The bioplastics produced from the chaff will be used in headlamp housings. Ford claims the new components will be 20 percent lighter than plastics.
